Some words of motivation for you to take into your Monday-
This couldn't be more true for athletes, however it is also true for everyone else! You see, when seasons change, so does your performance.
In the summer, people tend to take more time off, not work as hard, relax, unwind. During the holidays, people cozy up with unhealthy foods and set into unhealthy routines.
But, imagine if you allowed yourself to find comfort in the changing of each season while maintaining your performance by implementing different types of training into your daily routines!
Staying on your A-Game means that you will always implement rest and recovery, but it also means you will find a way to continue challenging yourself to improve your performance.
As summer quickly approaches for many students, athletes, and all others, I would like to give you some Monday motivation and food for thought! Summer time is a great time to finally stretch those wings, get out and enjoy the sunshine! It is a time that many working professionals take vacations, travel to see family and friends, attend events, and so on. Summer is also a great time for student athletes to head home from college or for young athletes to finally take that long-awaited and much needed break away from school.
Summer is also a time for everyone to stop their normal, busy and hectic life schedules and focus on relaxation and fun projects. Maybe this summer you will take up a new hobby. Maybe you will learn to kite surf, take a painting class, or just work on that winter skin and get tan!
All of these things are great and well-deserved! However, I would like to challenge you ALL, to implement fundamentals and new strategies that can help you maintain who you are as a winner, in your season.
What are your goals this year? What sport performance are you wishing on maintaining or bettering this next season? Do you have work goals, maybe getting a pay raise or surprising yourself with a new challenge or presentation at work, do you want to write a book? Maybe your goal is to help someone else achieve something...Whatever it is, now is a great time to focus on it and work to develop measurable steps towards achieving it!
Summertime is the best time to learn new relaxation techniques for your rest and recovery, however, it is a great time for all of you who are winners, to maintain your status by working on mental training techniques while learning new ways to recover.
Maybe you need a refresher course. Maybe you envision yourself winning the gold this season. Maybe you wish to make some drastic changes this Fall. Whatever it is that you wish to do, you should ALWAYS focus on off-season training.
Off-season training is the BEST time to implement new techniques, new training methods, new goals, and a new mindset in how you wish to perform next season! You see, winners do not leave their potential behind. Winners do not just, stop because the seasons change. Winners MUST stay on their A-Game by working harder than the season before, because all winners work hard to maintain the "Winning" status.
Need more? Reach out to Cheryl McCormick this summer for a crash course and keep yourself fresh with new techniques that you should be working on this summer to make sure that you are ready to perform by this Fall!
