Goal Setting

Goal setting process.

If you are a former or current athlete, you are aware of our discussions about setting goals. This is one of the first topics that I discuss with everyone! As mentioned in our discussions, we have briefly talked about the 3 important areas of goal setting. The What, The Why, and The How. These areas define What the goal serves you, Why the goal is important to master, and How you will achieve the goal. This process should be applied to ALL 3 goals that you have developed.

Please revisit your goals that you have set for us to work on.

Briefly, we have discussed short term goals are 1-3 months, mid-term goals are 3-6 months, and long-term goals are 6 months-1 year or longer.

As a TEAM or Individual (I will instruct which one for you to do)

What I would like for you to do is, in a WORD Document,  indicate your process (steps) for each goal (1,2,3). If you are doing this as a team, please mention the name of the person whom is leading this process with the team, and mention what School and team you are with.

Once I receive your document back, we will discuss it in our next meeting. It should look like this:

Goal #1:

The What: What this goal does for me ...

The Why: Why I want to accomplish this goal is because...

The How: How I will achieve this goal is by doing ...

Goal #2:

The What: What this goal does for me ...

The Why: Why I want to accomplish this goal is because...

The How: How I will achieve this goal is by doing ...

Goal #3:

The What: What this goal does for me ...

The Why: Why I want to accomplish this goal is because...

The How: How I will achieve this goal is by doing ...
